Lombardy Region Department of Environment and climate deals with the protection of the environment and biodiversity. In particular it deals with air quality, protected areas , biodiversity and environmental education.
The Directorate General for the Environment and Climate funds several projects for the protection and enhancement of Lombard biodiversity. Thanks to the co-financing of the European Commission on the LIFE instrument to support projects for the conservation of the environment and nature (LIFE Nature and Biodiversity, LIFE Information and Communication), the Lombardy Region has promoted specific actions to improve the conservation status of species and habitats at risk of extinction.
